Venous leg ulcers

These lower-leg wounds are associated with venous circulation problems. Care may include wound dressings and compression options when appropriate for your evaluation.

Your care at Elite Wound Clinic

Start with an
individual evaluation.

Discuss wound care and compression therapy. Dr. Montana Cole reviews your wound and relevant medical history, then discusses the options that may fit your circumstances.

Your care plan is based on the evaluation. You’ll have an opportunity to discuss your concerns, understand the next steps, and ask how your progress will be followed.

Understanding swelling and leg ulcers

Venous leg ulcers can develop when blood does not return efficiently through the leg veins. Care may involve dressings and professionally selected compression, as well as attention to the underlying circulation problem.

Compression is not right for every circulation problem. Ask what assessment is needed before starting or changing it. Bring details of previous ulcers, swelling, vascular testing and any wraps or stockings already prescribed.

Questions to bring
to your appointment.

  • What may be keeping my leg wound from healing?
  • Is compression appropriate for my situation?
  • How will my care plan be reviewed over time?

Help us understand your history.

Bring a medication list, relevant medical records, recent labs or imaging, and information about the care you have already received. Include your photo ID and insurance card.
